Went off shore yesterday out of Fernandina to the Brunswick Bottom with some friends from work. Left at 8:00 and returned a little after dark. Real slow fishing with a limit of porgys, some seabass and a few short snappers. Covered over 150 miles dropping a couple dozeen times ending up at HH before coming in. We got hailed by the Coast Guard en route to HH. Apparently we got a little close to a Navy excercise involving a sub. They said we need to steer clear by at least 2 miles from any navy vessel/excercise. I'm not sure how you can tell how far away without a radar, but I guess if you can see it then you're too close. Anyway, still a fun day none the less.

Great! Sounds like fun Mark. I did see, I think it was the 'Ms Lucy'(?), leave the city docks after fueling up with some men all bundled up, in what appeared to me as snow mobile suits, yesterday morning.

FYI: Miles of ocean soon closed to botton fishing news article with map

Well, probably not a bad trip for a lifelong terrorist! No triggers? ******.

No, no triggerfish Jim. I wish though. Good eating.

It wasn't bad at all. Maybe 2-3 feet I would guess, swells were far apart and some wind chop, but not much. On average we were running about 43 mph in a 23 footer. By the time we made it to HH it had laid down real nice. Water was cold, I figured probably in the mid 60's but the Grays Reef buoy was reporting 55 degrees the night before.

Good eating? Oh Yeah, certainly one of my favorites. And to think that it wasn't many yrs ago that folks treated them as trash fish. I guess they're more diffult to clean than most others but in my view certainly worth the difference. Last time I saw some in a fish shop (just N. or St Augustine) for sale it was about $9 a lb.

My brother-in-law has served trigger in his restaurant since he opened in the early 80's. Folks were constantly asking for it.
