[this is a delayed report due to the site being down previously]

Summerlin and I hit the water at sunrise armed with Topwaters and found the water alive with finger mullet. Schools were swimming up and down the banks at Nassau sound and were being worked by what we presumed to be trout. Threw topwater for about a half hour with nothing more than a few short strikes with bait busting all around the boat. I was working the trolling motor and had just stopped my retrieve to adjust our course to parallel the bank, when the water exploded where my red and white Top Dog Jr. used to be. By the time I looked back, all I caught a glimpse of was a tail the size of my hand thrashing back and forth and I knew I had something big. After a few good runs I brought her aboard measuring 27 inches and estimated at 7 lbs. The rest of the day was slow, yielding a sail cat and a rat red, both on cast netted finger mullet. All in all a great day and by far my biggest trout...what a blast on Topwater!

Skippy, that was one heck of a fish. By far the largest seatrout that has ever been in my boat! I could not believe how she totally engulfed that lure. I was afraid you wouldn't be able to release her without damage. Good job on the release. I did get the chance to outdo you that morning when I got that one strike shortly after you released that mama girl. Unfortunately for me I couldn't hook her, but I did get a good look though. She would have been comparable for sure.

That was a great morning to say the least. Too bad our outing last Sat didn't produce good results.

Yepper,
By May I will owe nothing except a mortgage payment. Then the savings begin. I will even have my Harley paid for. I kinda like the Triumph 235. But may stay down in the 21 range. Whatever I buy it will be paid for in cash. No more loans. No payments means more money for gas to get to the fish. I am a man on a mission. Might be transferring to Africa midyear. Same job, more money, no war zone. WOOHOOOO. Hey Joe, you still in the Bahamas. We are planning a trip that way next summer.
