I got off the graveyard shift Friday morning and headed to Wal Mart. After Thursday's fiasco I was needing a new anchor and rope. This morning I wanted to go back to my old stomping grounds of Nassau Sound and use up the left over bait from the day before. After some Starbucks bold with a couple shots of expresso added in, I arrived at my destination around 10:00 a.m. A little breezy but a beautiful day to say the least. Being tired from working all night and not having any sleep since Wednesday night I decided I was just going to still fish rather than work the trolling motor. I set out a couple of rods with mud minnows and shrimp and then threw a Catch 2000 for a while. I caught a few smallish trout on the lure, and the shrimp were producing a few every now and then.

After a while I felt like I needed a few winks of sleep. I set the drags light with the clickers on and left two rods in with mud minnows about 10 feet from the bank, then laid on my bench and quickly dozed off to a twilight sleep. The sounds of the ocean, the breeze, the water lapping up against the hull. Ahh tranquility. This is life.

My sleep was interupted by the zing of one of the rods. This was not a small trout. No sooner did I grab the rod and begin reeling in the other one went off. Yeehaw, a double header, but now I had to work fast. I got the first one in, a nice 20 inch keeper red. Decisions, decisions. I released it and grabbed the other rod. This one was definitely bigger, and after a short fight I pulled a 24 inch red into the boat. Sweet! I put him on ice and as I baited up again I heard a heck of a comotion. A dolphin had chased something, probably a big red, up into the cove where I was and was thrashing about like crazy. I went for my camera but by the time I turned the video on the chase was over, and I'm pretty sure the dolphin got its meal. Pretty cool to watch though.

I caught a couple more small trout and decided it was time for a good nap at home. Here's a pic of the red.

Hey buddy...glad to see you had a better day than we did on Thursday. My worst day on the water still tops my best day ever at work though, hands down ;-)

Have a good Christmas and I'll see when I get back from skiing in Virginia

Nice Red by the way!!
